The Plot

Aspiring champion race car Lightning McQueen is on the fast track to success, fame, and everything he's ever hoped for—until he takes an unexpected detour on dusty Route 66. His have-it-all-now attitude is thrown into a tailspin when a small-town community that time forgot shows McQueen what he's been missing in his high-octane life.

The Cars

Lightning McQueen
Lightning McQueen, #95, is a hotshot rookie race car poised to become the youngest ever to win the Piston Cup Championship. Obsessed with speed, winning, and all the perks that come with fame, he lives to go "faster than fast." But after getting lost in the small town of Radiator Springs, McQueen meets a group of new friends—including his best pal, Mater—who teach him that life is about more than trophies and glory.
Doc Hudson
Doc Hudson is a 1951 Hudson Hornet and the wise, quiet country doctor of Radiator Springs, where he runs the local medical clinic and serves as the town judge. Once known as the legendary Fabulous Hudson Hornet, Doc left his racing days behind for a slower life—until Lightning McQueen races into town and reignites his old competitive spark. Now, Doc uses his hard-earned wisdom to teach young racers to drive smart, not just fast.
Tow Mater
Mater is the rustiest, trustiest tow truck in Radiator Springs—a good ol' boy with a big heart and a laugh to match. Though a little rusty, he's always the first to lend a helping hand, whether it's towing a stranded car or teaching Lightning McQueen about friendship. Mater loves tractor tippin', driving backward, and spending time with his best friend, McQueen—because he doesn't need to know where he's going as long as he knows where he's been.
Sally
Sally is a beautiful baby blue 2002 Porsche 911 from California who left life in the fast lane to start fresh in the small town of Radiator Springs. Charming, intelligent, and witty, she serves as the town's attorney and runs the Cozy Cone Motel. Dedicated to getting Radiator Springs "back on the map," Sally has fallen in love with small-town life—and with cruisin' in the slow lane alongside Lightning McQueen.
